Marine Safari

The Red Sea is well known for its exceptional recreational diving sites, such as Ras Mohammed Reserve, the wreck of the British warship SS Thistlegorm, Elphinstone Reef, Brothers Islands, Dolphin Reef, and Rocky Island in Egypt, as well as sites in Sudan, including the reefs of Snaganiab, Abington, Angrosch, and Romi Reefs.

The Red Sea became a popular diving destination following Hans Hass’s expeditions in the 1950s, and later through the work of Jacques-Yves Cousteau.

Famous tourist resorts along the Red Sea include El Gouna, Hurghada, Safaga, and Marsa Alam on the western Red Sea coast, as well as Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab, and Taba on the Egyptian side of Sinai, in addition to Aqaba in Jordan and Eilat in Israel, in the area known as the Red Sea Riviera.
